Dr. Bernadette Dunphy is the owner and director of Dunphy’s Physical Therapy in Red Bank, NJ. She offers expert physical training as well as guidance, counsel, and knowledge to patients from varying circumstances.
Many come on a physician’s referral or as their own choice for treatment. Some come for rehabilitation after injury or surgery, and others are looking for an informative beyond therapy program. All receive her close, personal attention. Bernadette values proper care and training of the human body as much as the continued encouragement and support patients need for recovery.
She opened Dunphy’s Training Center in April 1990 after building her reputation as a skilled and caring physical therapist. Her experience coordinating area rehabilitation programs inspired her to be the guiding force behind Dunphy’s Training Center.
In 2007, Bernadette and Phil moved their practice, Dunphy’s Physical Therapy, to a beautiful century home at 300 Broad Street in Red Bank. Here they continue to treat adults, athletes, and beyond therapy patients with the utmost care.
In 2006, Bernadette and Phil graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey with their Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree.
Bernadette received her physical therapy certificate and post-baccalaureate degree from a joint program at the University of Medicine and Dentistry and Kean College. She studied community health and sports medicine at Montana State University.
In 2010, Bernadette joined the Biology faculty at Monmouth University where she now teaches Anatomy and Physiology as a Specialist Professor. She incorporates case study work from her physical therapy practice into her lessons to teach students in a realistic, practical way.
Dr. Phil Dunphy is a nationally known leader in the field of physical therapy. His effective formula for maximum recovery involves treatment of the entire patient- psyche, injury and total body—to restore independence and confidence while establishing a sense of accomplishment.
Phil received his degree in physical therapy from Columbia University, where he also furthered his studies in exercise physiology. He is a published columnist in Men’s Health magazine as well as a contributing writer to the book, Prevention Practice Strategies for Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists.
Phil designed Dunphy’s Physical Therapy’s very own Right Weigh Exercise Guidance system, a unique computer-oriented feedback system that provides visual feedback during resistance exercise. It scores the patient on “how well” they perform the exercise and gives them visual guidelines on how to improve the movement during the exercise. The first prototype was developed in 1980.
Bernadette and Phil reside in Fair Haven, NJ with their four children.
